How claiming a listing works
Manual review, 2–3 working day turnaround, RM 99 one-time fee. We do this carefully because the directory’s defensibility is verification depth, not listing count. You claim directly from your listing: hit Claim this listing, submit your SSM details, and we verify before you pay.
What you get with a claim
- Edit access to your profile (tagline, services, suburbs covered, contact methods, established date, photos)
- Reply to reviews left on your listing
- Verified badge displayed on your listing card
- Profile analytics (coming soon: page views, contact-button clicks)
- Verification depth metadata: your SSM number is cross-referenced and visible on the listing; CIDB grade is shown where applicable
The base claim does not include top-of-category placement, the Featured badge, or response-SLA commitments. Those come with the Featured tier (RM 99/month).
What we verify
For every claim, we check:
- SSM business registration — cross-checked against the Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia e-Info public lookup. The SSM name and registration date must match what you submit.
- CIDB grade (for renovation/construction contractors) — cross-checked against the CIDB Malaysia public classification roll. Grade and registration validity must match.
- Trade-specific evidence — a 1–2 question check on past work to confirm you’re the actual operator (e.g. “What service did you complete in [random nearby suburb] last month?”). This is light-touch and one-off; we’re not auditing your books, just confirming you’re not a brand-jacker.
We don’t verify reviews, photos, or testimonials at the claim step — reviews are verified independently when they arrive (per the Trust page).
The process, end to end
- Find your auto-imported listing.Search by business name from the homepage or relevant category page. If you’re already there, copy the listing URL. If you’re not (we may not have scraped your trade or suburb in the first cold-start pass), skip to step 2 and we’ll create a fresh listing on approval.
- Submit the claim form. On your listing, click Claim this listing, sign in, and enter your SSM number, your CIDB grade if applicable, and a short note about what you do and where you operate. No listing yet? Email penangrenovations.com@gmail.com from your registered business email and we’ll create one on approval. Within 2–3 working days we verify and approve.
- Pay RM 99 via DuitNow QR. Once approved, your claim status page shows a DuitNow QR. Scan it with any Malaysian banking app to pay. Settlement is instant, with no card processing fees and no foreign-exchange friction. We mark your listing claimed once the payment lands, usually the same working day.
- Edit your profile. Sign in with the same email you used to claim. The profile editor is at
/dashboard(claimed contractors only). First edit pass is normally 15–30 minutes: tagline, services, photos, and contact methods. - (Optional) Add Featured. Anytime after claim, upgrade to Featured for top-of-category placement and the response SLA. Cancel anytime, no minimum term.
What if I don’t have an SSM?
An active SSM registration is currently required for claim approval. If you operate as a sole-proprietor or partnership without SSM, you can register at SSM e-Lodgement for around RM 30/year (sole-prop). Once registered, return to claim. We don’t accept claims without verifiable business registration — it’s a non-negotiable trust signal that homeowners look for.
What if my listing is wrong?
Auto-imported listings are pulled from public sources (Google Maps, SSM lookups, CIDB rolls) and may have stale or wrong detail. If your listing exists but has the wrong address, wrong trade, or wrong contact info, mention it in your claim email — we update it as part of the verification step, free.
If your business has been listed without your knowledge and you don’t want to claim, you can request removal at the same email. We delete unclaimed listings within 5 working days of a verified removal request from the SSM-registered owner.
Refunds
The RM 99 claim fee is non-refundable once verification has commenced (defined as the point at which we begin checking your SSM number against the SSM e-Info registry). If we can’t verify your business and you don’t want to provide additional evidence, we refund 100% within 5 working days. Your statutory rights under the Malaysian Consumer Protection Act 1999 are not affected by anything in this section — see the full terms for the binding language.
