Sri Pinang Design & Build

4.8 / 47 reviews · Established 2008 · RM 80–250k

Editor’s lead

Sri Pinang has spent fifteen years renovating George Town's heritage shophouses — the kind of buildings whose load-bearing walls cannot be moved without a structural engineer's letter and a JKR permit. They are the team you call when your house has timber floor joists from the 1920s and you want to know whether they will hold a kitchen extension.

We bought a 1920s shophouse with no idea what we were doing. Sri Pinang walked us through every permit, every structural decision, every decision about whether to keep or replace timber elements. The project came in 4% under budget — almost unheard of. Eighteen weeks felt long but they kept us informed every step.

Heritage shophouse restoration, RM 200–250k

Honest about what they could and couldn't do. Brought in a structural engineer because they weren't going to take responsibility for a load-bearing wall removal without one. Rare to find that kind of judgment.
